Evidence-Based Practice refers to a problem resolution tactic done by healthcare practitioners and that is aided through evaluation of immediate demands. It is usually inclined towards the best interest of the clients or patients; thereby patient-centered, while at the same time balancing with the code of ethics. Considerable evidence, patient’s inclinations and clinical skill should be synchronized to attain scientifically sound and acceptable clinical practices to the practitioners and patients. Current paper will dwell on discussing how evidence-based practice has been proved efficient in the global healthcare sector. It will be divided into four main sections. Section A will dwell on the author’s perspective about EBP. The second part will dwell on expounding on the importance of the tool. Part C gives a case study of a successful application of EBP by healthcare practitioners in Sweden. Lastly, part D, will give an overall concept about EBP while highlighting the main arguments in the paper. A case study of how the practice was embraced by healthcare practitioners in Sweden helped mitigate the rampant cases of diabetes among the aging population.

Nurses among other health practitioners have experienced challenges when it comes to discharging the duties especially during the process of ensuring that services are delivered efficiently. Several health practices could be made most of which were deemed insignificant in terms of enhancing development of the health sector. Nonetheless, with the introduction of the evidence-based practices, management, as well as health services delivery, improved tremendously in the health care sector. Therefore, this justifies why EBP is deemed an of having important ingredient that underscores on the need of having a safe, efficient, and effective health care system. This paper will dwell on discussing importance of EBP in relation to securing an improvement in the delivery of health care services through thorough researching about possible root course of various diseases and health care challenges. Various impacts and effects in relation to the EBP’s implementation program will be evaluated. A successful case study of how Sweden used EBP program successfully to combat the ever rising cases of diabetes disease especially among the ageing generation.

Part A: Importance of utilizing EBP by Nurses in Healthcare

Nursing practices are supposed to be carried out in the best interests of the patients. They are therefore, patient-centred. Through the considerations of the fact that the global health care requires healthcare practitioners to make decisions based on the current evidence, EBP ensures the delivery of quality health care practices towards the patients or clients.

Evidence-based practice is a very important tools as it is deemed applicable in various forms of health care services. For instance, EBP is a very significant tool during the process of preparing health care plans. Nurses need to utilize such rationalized plans to be able to deliver quality services. In addition, EBP assists nurses to validate theoretical knowledge gained through research into practicality in real life situations involving health care activities. Moreover, the practice helps healthcare practitioners carry out investigations of new ideas in new areas of interest. Since evidence based practices are based on research, this gives the health care practitioners a platform to engage in professional development activities.

Any care or decision that health service providers make must be well thought-out and demonstrate evidence used both carefully and sensibly. When care is delivered or provided with a rationale behind it, it will enable health practitioners to deliver services that are meaningful. Based on EBP focus, any advice that is given by the health practitioners should be accompanied by evidence. Any practice that is carried out should always have rationality behind it. Healthcare providers should be able to understand why and how they should care for their clients or patients. From this point of view, involving in evidence-based practices ascertains that the health care providers are able to deliver the best towards their clients as they aim to make sure that their practices are weighed against the existing ethical standards. This therefore requires high degree of rationality among the health care providers, a platform that is created by EBP.

Part B: Importance of Understanding Research Methods among Nurses in Order to Implement EBP

Researching is a very important tool as far as implementation of medical that are evidence-based is concerned. Normally, nurses have a well-founded tradition that illuminates on different ways that excellent health care can be provided to patients in an easy manner. According to Pipe et al, there are four patterns that are deemed important for various people, joining nursing sector. They include the empiric, aesthetic, personal, and ethic patterns. On the other hand, empirical knowledge pertaining to the explanation, prediction, and description of various medical terms is described in a number of medical researches.

Ethics is a highly common term that is often used to describe obligations that nurses are supposed to adhere to when working. It can simply be referred to as the achievement of the desired ends, values, and moral obligation in the course of discharging one’s duties. Understanding of correct research methods ensures that nurses come up with reliable results and ideas that can be used in EBP.

Nurses need to understand various challenges that affect the level of their service delivery in order to attain full satisfaction in terms of getting evidence based practices. A better method of addressing such issues is through finding out empirical evidences through research. Practical results are always got from reliable research methods. This means that nurses have to be conversant with feasible research methods that are likely to produce viable results that can be applied in EBP.

Generally, it is possible to mend the existing gap between clinical practices and researches. One of the best strategies towards achieving the relation goal is by including researches that are evidence based. Thereafter, various considerations such as incorporating the final results to as  be part making procedures and policies that can help to improve level of service delivery of the of the workers. Various publications that are related to the health sector are used to make reflections on the on the national health stands, as well as minimizing number of unnecessary tasks that the nurses fraternity undergo.

Critical policies that are assumed to induce final changes in the health sector are used to create a reflection of the evidence-based research. For instance, placement verification method of a tube that is known as nasogastric have changed been fully transformed. Contemporarily, radio examination is used instead of the traditional method that was referred to as air insufflation. The current placement verification method is considered to be more accurate than the traditional method. This is a clear indication that it is imperative for nurses to understand various research methods in order to increase the efficiency in their implementation of evidence-based nursing practices.

Nurses must demonstrate the highest level of verifying and appraising scientific evidences, thus, validating them through proper research methods. They should be able to depict how such evidences are useful in the effort of substantiating their different claims. Nurses must demonstrate ability of incorporating appraisal with their level of clinical expertise. They should also depict their capability taking care of client values, as well as their difficult circumstances, in order to put the experience gained to practice. Good research techniques can be used to make sure that nurses are incorporating rightful healthcare practices.

Evidence based practice is viewed as a powerful tool that promotes utilization of knowledge derived from reliable research methods. Such level of knowledge can also be derived thorough evaluation of data that is collected from different sources. Consequently, nurses are able to make informed decisions regarding how they can improve efficiency in their delivery of services. They gain wide level of knowledge relating to different areas such as effective methods of diseases treatment and intervention. Such knowledge can be put to application on an individual basis or be incorporated in an organization and be applied in form of a program. This is greatly facilitated by the application of better research methods to come up with new ideas in healthcare practices.

Part C: Application of EBP to manage Diabetes in Sweden

There have been multifaceted complications associated with diabetic patients in Sweden. Extensive research is always required to manage the skyrocketing cases of patients from the disease. Most of the health practitioners utilize evidence based nursing (EBN), a category of evidence based practice (EBP), as an effective alternative method of making healthcare based decisions that improve quality of service delivery to the patients. This has led to improved nursing practices in the country. For instance, through research, nurses have been able to identify the correct techniques that can be effectively used to inject insulin to adults suffering from diabetes mellitus into their bloodstream. Proper injection of insulin has been connected with several benefits. For instance, it improves the patients’ health conditions, life quality, and curbs chances of  developing future complications.

Evidenced based practice (EBP) is a very important practice especially to nurses in Sweden as it helps them discharge their duties in an efficient manner. Sweden uses the EBP to avert the ever rising cases of diabetes in their country. Cases of patients suffering from diabetes have become prevalent in the country rising at an alarming rate. In order to avert the looming disaster, healthcare professionals had to be provided with healthcare training that would consequently guide them in incorporating EBP. The trainings were meant to equip healthcare practitioners with skills necessary in managing, as well as preventing, the disease. Nonetheless, it was identified that it was difficult laying down long-term health care plans. Therefore, nurses were encouraged to increase their skills and knowledge with regard to taking care of residents that suffered from diabetes in unique ways based on the prevailing situations.

Furthermore, healthcare practitioners were trained on how they could identify diabetes lesion in feet of any suspected victim in order to be able to carry out early detection. This required nurses still to develop unique ways that they could use to fight the menace. They engaged in evidence based practices. Although nurses were encouraged to make it mandatory for all patients to undergo foot examination on a regular basis as part of ethical clinical practice, most of the practices that were undertaken depended on skills of previously tested approaches that would consequently produce viable results. As a result of this health implementation programs, there was increased and heightened awareness creation about the disease and nurses were able to deal with the menace through the application of EBP. The barriers that were initially there were removed and there was drastic reduction in the disease. Briefly, the EBP program entailed development of a training module where a diabetes educator was used as the tutor. The nurses among other health practitioners were involved in a discourse in order to understand more about the scourge.

Nurses were encouraged to ask questions that they deemed important in order to engage them as active participants. The trainings equipped them with necessary and practical skills that were important in helping curb diabetes diseases. Based on the above mentioned discussions, EBP has increased quality of health care service delivering, and good patient outcomes. It has also reduced costs associated with health care services in addition to empowering healthcare providers leading to satisfaction when they are discharging their roles. Implementation of the health care program in Sweden has indicated positive changes by reducing cases of diabetes illnesses as they are detected at an early stage.

Part D: Conclusion

Use of evidence-based practice has been deemed significant equipment especially in delivering health care services in hospitals. Nurses have been equipped with skills that are requisite in terms of enabling them carry out a thorough research pertaining to diseases that are deemed prevalent. Application of the EBP has proved effective in dealing with acute challenges especially the ones involving pandemic diseases since the health practitioners are usually involved in investigating the causes, consequences and better methods that can be used to deal with such menaces.
