Introduction
Currently in the world, drastic changes have been made due to globalization and industrialization in many regions. The adoption of new strategies to living in the current changing environment has contributed to the evolution of the economic, political, and social interactions of the people and the world. In the study of political ecology, the relationship of the world leadership and the environment has been well analyzed over the years around the globe. The research on these studies has been done on the local, national, and global levels to determine the extent of influence created by the political power in different regions. In this paper, a discussion of the aspect of the chain of explanation will be done. The analysis will help in understanding how political issues are handled and the effect they cause to the relationship between people and their surrounding across the globe.
In political ecology, the focus of the study is to understand how leadership activities influence the operations of the surrounding. In this perspective, the leaders concentrate in safeguarding the safety of the environmental conditions and their natural resources. To increase the efficiency of the management of the surroundings in the world, scholars introduced a strategy that shows a protocol featuring the steps of environmental factors management. Scholars Blaikie and Brookfield developed and named the strategy ‘chain of explanation'. In the ecology studies, the technique has been used to analyze the process of managing the environment with the aim of increasing the standard of living for the population in the region. The standardized steps in the approach begin with the identification of the location, the study of the symptoms of political influence to the surroundings, and the practice of the research to sample effects. Moreover, after the test research on the environment, decisions concerning the issues of concern are made. Afterward, a substantial research on the society is done, and the parameters found are further tested at national and global levels. This technique has highly helped in ecology studies across the world. Besides, the study has ensured that issues affecting the world are recognized and handled commonly to help match development rates in the world. Moreover, the well-developed countries have been drawn in helping raise the economic status of the third world countries. As a result, globalization effect has been enhanced by creating positive change to the entire globe. The diagram below illustrates an example of different stages and methods of chain development in political hydro issue management.
In order to understand the effect of political ecology research, this paper will discuss the social effect created at local, national, and global levels of the society. Moreover, a discussion of how each level is related through the chain of explanation to environmental will be identified in the analysis. Environmental changes in the world have radically increased with the increase in industrialization and globalization over recent years. Moreover, the effect has been created in the distribution and utilization of the natural resources in different regions around the globe. The processing and manufacturing of items that use natural resources have increased due to the rise in international trade. Additionally, the growth of the population in the world has increased the demand for goods and services, leading to a further depletion of the needed resources. As a result, the need for control and monitoring of the political ecology has risen in the society and has been extended to the global level. The political ecologists help in advising the people in a region of the impending dangers or need for a change of their environment to safeguard them from any adverse effects. In the conducted research studies, the purpose to find the relationship between the economic development and the distribution of natural resources, interclass and power relations, and wealth accumulation and distribution patterns’ effects to the world.
Economic development in the world has evolved over ages through the changing interaction of the people in the society, country, and the world. The good relationships created in the world have led to sharing of resources among regions, creation of policies that help in developing their activities, and improve their development. This effect is evident by the policies made after coalitions between societies and nations. Most of these policies are either free trade policies, open immigration policies, or even the treaties on the distribution of wealth. As a result, of the changing policies, the combined powers of the population merge their efforts in seeking for development and attain greater growth rates together. The supreme bodies in the world such as the World Bank, International Monetary Funds, and World International Trade have significantly advocated for unity in the world’s nations to enhance the achievement of the economic development. This social relationship in the world can highly boost the globalization of the world and create better heights of development for all the people.
According to recent studies on social relations at the local level, civilization and enlightenment of the world have enhanced the interaction of the people in different regions. In most of the societies, people have different economic classes. Some people are considered to be wealthy than others and have a better advantage over the less affluent. However, through the enlightenment of the world through the availability of quality education, the distribution of wealth in the society has changed over the years. People in the society developed more knowledge on the rights of property ownership and had progressively fought for justice and fairness in the management of their resources. The changes have been implemented through the changes in the political leaders and close monitoring of the activities related to the management of their resources. Moreover, people in the societies have become more supportive of their neighbors, creating more unity and reducing conflicts that have dragged most localities in attaining growth. As a result, people have gained more strength to curb the challenges facing them in their societies and are now working towards the achievement of common goals. For example, in Africa where religious conflicts in the less developed countries have dominated in many years have reduced after the empowerment of the people with quality education. As a result, the African communities have formed unions that fight for their well-being in their regions. This strategy has enhanced the operations of their people through the understanding of their needs and rights. All these changes can be linked to the implementation of the chain of explanation in the research to understand the challenges and the opportunities in their regions and to evaluate the effects that can be caused by embracing positive change. Further, the changes in the society have been extended to their countries.
At the state level, people have attained changes in the countries through the change of power, reduction of corruption, and increasing their social development. Nations that have been under continuous leadership have changed their leaders. Moreover, the social development in different countries has created the need for unity among nations. As a result, people have established unions that help them enhance their economic development through safeguarding their resources from depletion, degradation, and embezzlement. The economic development has been supported by the practice neo-liberalism amongst different countries. The technique has led to the creation of regional unions that enhance the development of the countries such as the GCC, European Union, amongst others. As a result, different countries evaluate their needs, resources, and the opportunities available that can be utilized to increase their economic development. In the evaluation and monitorial research studies on these aspects, the application of the chain of explanation technique has successfully helped in reaching the set targets. Moreover, the method has increased the political ecologists in the region's ability to set policies that will safeguard the welfare of these countries resources.
The above social changes relate in different ways to the chain of explanation to the environmental changes. First, through the creation of unity in economic activities in the world the challenges in the various countries are identified. As a result, the sites that need the attention of the world powers are identified. The UN, UNICEF, WHO, and World Bank involved conducting operations and research studies of the symptoms that are associated with the identified challenges. Moreover, testing of the possible solutions to the problems are done in different regions to determine their suitability and efficiency. The results attained are used in establishing the measures that will help in curbing any adverse challenge effects. As a consequence, more knowledge is attained and utilized in the proceeding decision-making processes. The attained knowledge can be applicable at the local, national, and international level.
The immediate changes experienced locally in the societies have been extended to the national and global level too. Globalization has led to the unity of the world in practices on the operations maintenance of proper political ecology. The world has mobilized the nations and communities in different regions to join as one in striving for economic sustainability and justice. As a result, the developed countries have helped in upbringing the third world people to living a better life. The economic status of the developing countries has been supported by the social growth of relationship among countries in the world. As a result, the developed countries have attained manpower, knowledge, funds, market for their finished goods, and machinery support in different sectors to enhance their productivity. These relationships have in the end, helped the people in the world outsource better skills in managing their resources, relating with others, and utilizing their resources well and in an innovate manner. As a result, the challenges facing the world in the political ecology sector have been reduced by these practices. In the changes that have been evidenced by the practices of global political ecology management, leaders in different levels have assimilated these strategies in enhancing their surroundings at different levels. Therefore, the local leaders, the compatriots in power, and even the superpower leaders have attained a common goal. The efforts of each of the population have also been directed toward achieving a better world and significant economic development. As a result, the entire world is now making greater growth rates in the social, economic and political developments.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the chain of explanation has proved to be a practical approach to applying in the development of strategic change in ecological issues in the world. This technique has largely been efficient in regions where social relationship among the populations has been enhanced. As a result, of unity among the population, the people have attained the need to share and practice justice in the distribution of their resources. Considering that the world is rich in diversified natural resources, the allocation of resources across several regions has increased the global economic growth and development. Therefore, the social development and the application of the chain of explanation should be advocated for adoption in the political ecology management of leadership from local, national, to international levels.
